The Vasa Statue

Gustav Vasa’s adventures in Dalarna is an exciting section of the history book. That may be so-so with accuracy, but the King’s bid to win the mora men, his escape and return to Mora has given rise to the worlds largest endurance skiing race Vasaloppet.

More than ten thousand people had gathered in 1903 at the unveiling of the statue, a company of the Dalregementet formed a guard of honor and the then Prince Gustaf let the veil fall. Regimental music and parish-clad choristers further contributed to the formal ceremony.
